PART 7 / CREATIVE FIELD NOTES

STEEL BALL RUN
STAND IDEAS.
YOUR OWN RIDER.

This is a workshop for creating an original character inspired by the atmosphere of Part 7. Start with a personal motive, build a power around one rule, then give that power a visual identity.

01 / START WITH THE RIDER, NOT THE ARMOR.

A hat and a horse are only the surface of the idea. Give your rider a reason to keep going, something they cannot bear to lose, and a flaw that will cause a difficult decision.

Rio Vesper is a courier who has never delivered a letter late. He enters a desert race carrying a letter he is afraid to open. He can cross impossible distances, but he always avoids the shortest route home.

This is an original example created for this workshop. A different motive produces a different Stand: a collector who cannot let things go, a rider afraid of silence, or a gambler who refuses to leave anything to chance.

02 / WRITE ONE POWER AND ONE HARD LIMIT.

A clear rule makes an ability easier to understand and gives you something concrete to illustrate. Use this sentence: “When [condition] happens, the Stand can [one action], but [limitation].”

When two shadows touch, Echo Riot can fold the distance between them. Anything crossing the seam arrives before its echo. Direct sunlight breaks the connection.

A power about folding space gives the Stand a stronger visual direction than a list of unrelated weapons and decorations.

03 / MAKE THE STATS SUPPORT THE STORY.

These example grades are creative choices, not an official assessment. Echo Riot is fast and precise, but its limited range and vulnerable connection stop it from solving every problem.

Use the card editor to move each parameter from E to A. If everything is A, add a story reason or reconsider which strength actually defines the character.

04 / CHOOSE AN ANIME OR MANGA DIRECTION.

Anime color: strong facial planes, confident black outlines, hard-edged shadows and an unusual, controlled palette. Use an expressive pose and keep the user and Stand silhouettes distinct.

Black-and-white manga: cross-hatching, solid black shapes, screentone and deliberate empty space. Keep both faces readable before adding speed lines and background details.

Our character cards carry that direction into the name banner, illustration panel, six-axis stat chart and ability description. Your uploaded art remains unchanged when you switch the card edition.

05 / WRITE A BRIEF YOU CAN USE TODAY.

Copy these prompts into your notes and answer them in your own words. You do not need an account, payment or generator to complete this exercise.

06 / TEST THE RULE IN A SCENE.

Put the rider in a situation where the obvious solution fails. For Echo Riot, imagine a letter falling into a sunlit ravine. A distant shadow is not enough: it must touch another shadow to create a seam. Rio has to create that connection before crossing, giving an opponent time to move the light source. If your character can bypass the limit whenever convenient, tighten the rule before adding another power.

Try a second scene in which the ability cannot win a fight but can help someone. This gives the Stand a purpose beyond a high Power grade.

TURN THE BRIEF INTO A CARD.

Save your brief and pair it with artwork you own or have permission to use. Stand Atlas shows example card layouts here; customer editor access, purchases and generation are not open yet. Card Studio is planned at $0.99 per project, and the $4.99 Complete Pack is planned to add image-generation credits.
